Products - steps and vertical surfaces

Vertical Surfaces

The same resin bound finish on steps, skirtings and vertical surfaces, without slump.

A standard resin bound binder runs off a vertical surface. The Vertical Binder is a highly thixotropic, light-stable two-component polyurethane binder that holds 1-3 mm aggregate in place on steps and other vertical surfaces, so stairs, upstands and skirtings match the rest of the project. It also primes the vertical surface, and it cures waterproof and almost colourless, without discolouring with age.

Stays where it is laid

Highly thixotropic, so a 5-6 mm layer holds on a vertical surface without slumping.

Light-stable

Cures almost colourless and does not discolour with age.

Two parts, one to one

Part A and Part B mix 1:1 by weight in complete 1.8 kg kits, so nothing is weighed on site.

Matches the surface

Dried 1-3 mm aggregate, chosen to match the surrounding resin bound surface.

How it works

Mix, prime, trowel.

Per kit 1.8 kg Vertical Binder (0.9 kg Part A + 0.9 kg Part B) and about 12.5 kg of dried 1-3 mm aggregate. No catalyst.
1

Mix the binder

Mix Part B thoroughly into Part A. Always mix complete kits.

2

Prime the surface

Apply about 0.5 kg of the mixed binder, just over a quarter of the kit, liberally to the clean, dry vertical surface.

3

Add the aggregate

Mix about 12.5 kg of dried 1-3 mm aggregate into the remaining binder until every stone is coated. Low-dust quartz usually needs less.

4

Trowel it on

Trowel the mix on evenly at 5-6 mm while the primer is still wet. Add no catalyst, accelerator or solvent; in cool weather the cure simply takes longer.
